     "I just want you to know that the fire safety show you presented to the kids at Pacific Beach Elementary School was the talk of the day, and the next day, and the next day. What a great way to have kicked off National Fire Prevention Week. Your entire presentation was done in a professionally entertaining and educational way. The props, costumes, hands-on items, and use of student participation all added excitement to an important life-saving message to the audience. You demonstrated in a memorable way the dangers of playing with matches and of fire itself, how to plan an escape, how to escape, and the "stop, drop, cover the face, and roll" procedures. I enjoyed 19 years of service with the City of Everett Fire Department and presented many fire safety and fire prevention demonstrations over those years, especially the last 12 of those years in the Fire Marshal's Office. Although most fire fatalities occur in the home, the best place to carry the importance of fire safety in the home is to our kids in our schools. The fire fatalities that affected my fellow firefighters and myself the most, were those that involved the young. Statistics show that everyone will experience at least one type of fire in their lifetime so, it doesn't always happen to the other guy. Keep clowning around - - just not with fire."
